   slowness is reconnection.

   I am not a hill to be mined

   a mountain to be removed

   I am a soft oak in a meadow

   pointing my own way home

   roots run deep

   beneath the surface

   aquifers and waterways

   hold story of my own existence

   through my being.
   
   I am beginning to understand

   the connection of land and place

   the land of my body

   and the land of the hills.

   the valleys.

   the deserts, they scream they ache.

   the flowers that only bloom

   in springtime, or

   when the sunlight touches them in the morning.
   
   slowness is reconnection,

   to land and to place.

   to the home

   of me.
   
   reflections of land based memory of place and body.

   I am not a land to be conquered.
   Or overcome.
   Or destroy.
   I am a soft meadow,
   Gleaming best when the sun shines
   and the rain falls
   and I learn to receive the nourishment offered
   I am that fragrance
   I am that flower
   I am that land that I want to find
   I am that home where no other can live…
   We are the land we inhabit.

+ Developed and Presented Embodied Prayer Workshop first presented in Winston-Salem, North Carolina; As part of The Breath and the Clay creative conference; 45 students. Now have taught in Philadelphia, PA; New York; Lynchburg, Virginia; with online students from Europe, Australia, and United States. 2024-2026.

Exploring sacred movement as embodied prayer, moving with intention; connecting deeper to self, to God, and to each other. This workshop gives you tools to connect deeper with yourself, with God, and with community, discovering Listening, Receiving, Blessing, Intercession, Declaration, Reclamation and Honor. Open to all movers.
